Fiacaill Ridge 30th April 2011
Fiacaill Ridge – grade 2 Scramble Cairn Lochan 1219m
We parked at the Ski car park and headed up the path pass the ski tows and towards Coire am t sneachda. this turned out to be a happy mistake as once we got to the corrie we realised that we should have headed up toward the ridge to the west. But after having a good look at the crags we headed diagonally back to a small out crop that we noticed when we were here last winter. It turned out to be a very interesting way on to the ridge an obviously well used in winter – crampon marks. It was quite blustery but we headed up the ridge to the main scramble. It was brilliant such grippy rock. Once on the top we headed to the summit of Cairn Lochan and then down Fiacaill Coire Chais, although we dropped down to the ski area and made our way back to the car. Both our ankles stood up well!!
