Snow sun and wind

I was so looking forward to another day in the fells with joe and today didn’t disappoint. The forecast was for wind and a lowish cloud base so we decided to avoid the highest fells, instead we went for a lovely horse shoes that over looked Blencathra. The route started steeply through gorse but then eased as we went up the ridge to the first top. Spectacular views of Blencathra with snow on its top. We had lunch in the shelter – a good move and then headed down a steep slate rib towards a grassy rib. We saw rainbows forded a stream and had lots of chat. A lovely day…..legs a bit sore. I must get out more!
