The Forecast was for a nice day on Monday but I wasn’t the most organised and had to get up early to sort the Van and get my stuff together but I was so glad I did. The day was wonderful. I parked the van and the parking spot just near the gate and had a quick as I could walk, walk along the track to the bothy 7km !!!! Here the walk really started up the ridge – there was a nice path all the way to the top. I met a young couple who were going up and down the same way I was so glad I decided to do a round trip over Stob Choire Claurigh. It was a bit of a pull up the to it’s summit especially after the scree descent but the onward ridge was amazing. It is true that I forget how wonderful thin rocky aretes are when I have been away for a while. I was bit weary by the time I got back to the van but an excellent day and a great first night of the year in the van.
