Runs: 10 Vertical descent 3,662m Distance 38.50km – longest ski on Strava
The first day we headed to the nearest lift up to Grimentz. It was a wonderful blue bird day , no wind. I was a little apprehensive about how my new skis and boots would be but they are shaping up to be lovely. We stuck to blues with an odd red to get our ski legs going.

Now Anne Marie has a van, this is our first van trip with four vans. I couldn’t meet up with the others in time to set of up the hill with them but I did meet them as they were coming down. It was claggy wet and windy at the top!! but it would be my last hill of the year – probably! We then all ate together in my van at the van friendly Vat o’burn car park. The next day the weather was still appalling so we had a wee walk around the lock and headed home. A nice we trip though.

Escalera Arabe – Suiza with Emma and a lovely Canadian called Lauren
I did wonder if I had bitten off more than I could chew with this one! a 4 pitch route graded at 6a with a 4 pitch ab to finish but although I was tired I was climbing well and up for it. We got the the bottom of the route but were delayed as there were two people on the route who turned out to be going slow and wanted us to wait while they abseiled down…..not sure why but we did. Went up the first pitch of Bombay sapphire while we waited. It was a hard route and we ended up getting up any which way!!! I don’t know how Emma managed the last two pitches they were so hard. I lead the first. We abseiled down by the light of the full moon. It was a truly glorious day. Tomorrow I rest.

El Chorro Day Five

Via Ferratta 3a with Janet and Emma
Probably not my best decision as it was the via ferrata’s that caused my dodgy knee but how could i resist. It was a strenuous one with lots of staples and rope bridges and even a zip wire. Great fun

El Chorro: Day Three

Escalera Arabe – Suiza
Blue Line ***12 Pitches Grade 5c Alt Leads – Emma.
Today we set of to climb Blue Line a 12 pitch route which would be the longest I have ever climbed and also the Hardest route I would ever have done!. We were to climb in two pairs. Me and Emma and Jeanie and Janet. The first 6 pitches were the easiest ranging from 3c to 4. We set off alt leads. by the time we got to the 4 grade 5 pitches it was drizzly so Emma lead the first two 5c and 5b. As i was coming up the second one Emma shouted down “how are you feeling?” “good ” says I…..”You will need to lead through” says Emma “OK” When I got to the stance there was poo all over where the rope should be so I carried on….first i had to interrogate the grade out of Emma, she had the route description ….it was either a b or a c I knew….turned out to be a 5c …..which i lead and enjoyed…….what an achievement, the top two pitches we are feeling tired…it was a fairly long day but a brilliant one.
