Yorkshire without the book!

We headed to Skipton as the weather was supposed to be better to the east but it was after Lunch – a bacon buttie in Grassington –  before it stopped raining! But as the temperature warmed up we headed to Crookrise Crag on Barton Moor. As we approached the path we saw the sign that said – Closed1 due to shooting! and so were the other near by crags, although the woman at the estate office said we could climb on Eastby as long as we didn’t put our heads above the top of the crag due to the grouse shooters…we decided not to risk being shot and changed plan and went to settle and Attermire but with out the book! we headed to a part of the crag we had not been to before called the escarpment we later discovered the following:- “The scree at the foot of the crag is regularly fed by this crag” ! “and some routes were not re-climbed for this guide and are best left the grass!” We headed to what we later found out was windy buttress and it lived up to his name.

We are not sure what route we did but I think it could have been corner climb VD but to be honest it could have been anything.
