Probably would have been better to look at the map!

September 24, 2011

The first day of Rogers week off before he goes back full time…..We planned to scramble up sour Milk Gill and then scramble up Gillercomb Buttress. What we did was climb up the path at the side of Sour Milk gill as it was totally full of water, we then got across to Gillercomb Buttress by stream jumping and squelching but found a decidedly damp buttress so we climbed up the side of that too. We then thought we would follow the ridge round and make a horseshoe of it and come down over base brown. We must be getting used to the scale of Scottish mountains as we began to think that we might have gone to far when we started climbing up more than we expected….some deducting left us thinking we were heading for the top of Green Gable…imagine the surprise when we surfaced at the top of Great Gable! It was misty and we had got the map in the sac!
