Escalera Arabe – Suiza with Emma and a lovely Canadian called Lauren

I did wonder if I had bitten off more than I could chew with this one! a 4 pitch route graded at 6a with a 4 pitch ab to finish but although I was tired I was climbing well and up for it. We got the the bottom of the route but were delayed as there were two people on the route who turned out to be going slow and wanted us to wait while they abseiled down…..not sure why but we did. Went up the first pitch of Bombay sapphire while we waited. It was a hard route and we ended up getting up any which way!!! I don’t know how Emma managed the last two pitches they were so hard. I lead the first. We abseiled down by the light of the full moon. It was a truly glorious day. Tomorrow I rest.

Via Ferratta 3a with Janet and Emma

Probably not my best decision as it was the via ferrata’s that caused my dodgy knee but how could i resist. It was a strenuous one with lots of staples and rope bridges and even a zip wire. Great fun

Escalera Arabe – Suiza

Blue Line ***12 Pitches Grade 5c Alt Leads – Emma.

Today we set of to climb Blue Line a 12 pitch route which would be the longest I have ever climbed and also the Hardest route I would ever have done!. We were to climb in two pairs. Me and Emma and Jeanie and Janet. The first 6 pitches were the easiest ranging from 3c to 4. We set off alt leads. by the time we got to the 4 grade 5 pitches it was drizzly so Emma lead the first two 5c and 5b. As i was coming up the second one Emma shouted down “how are you feeling?” “good ” says I…..”You will need to lead through” says Emma “OK” When I got to the stance there was poo all over where the rope should be so I carried on….first i had to interrogate the grade out of Emma, she had the route description ….it was either a b or a c I knew….turned out to be a 5c …..which i lead and enjoyed…….what an achievement, the top two pitches we are feeling tired…it was a fairly long day but a brilliant one.

Aldebaran * Lead 5a

Today was to be very hot and sunny so we decided to go to Desplomilandia which although very hard is in the sun. I was quite happy to have a go a difficult climbs and see how I did. After a couple of climbs Emma and Janet came and said they thought that Aldebaran a blocky 5a would suit me and I should have a go at leading it. which I did!!! I remember leading a 5a on Hutton Roof years ago and being very pleased with myself. so as you can imagine I was very chuffed. I am so going to enjoy this climbing trip with such a supportive group of fantastic women. I have already surpassed my expectations.

Drove from Milan to Auronzo, an interesting drive in the rush hour getting out of Milan but a lovely stop and swim in Lake Garda. It was dark by the time we got to our accommodation. joe had no bedding as they had only made up one bed and the gas had run out. It was all sorted the next morning and it was a lovely place.

Lochivraon Bothy

This was a bothy and mountain trip that had been on my list for a while. The weather was super hot, but we managed the two Grahams and a dip in the river. It was hard hot work. There is a Corbett up from the bothy so a return trip will be needed.
