After a fairly big ride yesterday with the petals I went over to Kenny’s in preparation for a big ride he has planned for tomorrow. I decided to have another ‘get my mountain legs back’ I settled on Carn Mor a Corbett in the ladder hills it wasn’t as sunny as yesterday and the wind still has a chill but the light was lovely and it was great to be out in the hills. The path was much better than I expected. The peat hags were easy once down I followed it all the way to the second ridge. Brilliant day. First Corbett of the year.

I have wanted to walk up this hill for ages, all the descriptions made it sounds terrible. but we actually gained height very quickly on a new landrover track and it was ok going to the top of Carn an Uillt Bhric. Then it did a get a bit peat haggy but still not so bad. From the top of Carn nan Tri-tighearnan it is get a bit challenging. then down a gentle ridge to another track. A splendid very windy day!!

As part of the Petal Power Mad March 24/7 challenge I decided to ride up Carn na h Easgainn for the summit challenge and then I could also tick off a Graham. Not that I am in it for the ticks! There was a very strong head wind going up so I did push more than I wanted to. Lunch an a wooden hut and a marvellous decent.

Our feet were still a bit sore for various reasons…joe walking funny after standing on a scraper and me because of my stretched arch. But it was a fantastic day in Glen Roy. Blue sky! WE found a good spot to park the van…could definitely stay over there. And there is much still to do. The climb up was very steep, the views were amazing but we decided to head down and not attempt the other hill we had planned as we didn’t want to make our sore bits worse. It was a great day. The stream we walked down the side of may make a interesting scrambly ascent in dry weather

Joe is visiting and that means hills, nice vegetarian food and company. the day started of with a low mist/clag right over Aviemore. I was hopeful ti would lift but it didn’t – well not until we were back down at the van and looking back at the top we had just been on. But it was a lovely frosty walk.

I was going to walk up this hill with Janet on Thursday but I found out Mary was in hospital and spent the day trying to get hold of the doctors etc. This day was fine but windy and cold. We set of up a track i have ridden then deviated up rough tussochy heather to the top…hard going but not for too long. we then dropped down to another path that we have ridden on the day with found a track like a swamp! Back to dots van and a welcome cuppa.

I rode up the hill with Anne to see what the snow was like…it was very icy! We passed a fair few folk coming down with skis on their backs and bikes as we were going up…and even more as we were coming down including Laura – Lis’ daughter. We rode round loch Morlich on the way back….still plenty of ice…foot still a bit sore.

Kenny was going to come with me but had a late night and wasn’t able to drive!!! which was a shame for him as it was a lovely sunny day spring like and so nice to be able to sit and eat your lunch in the warm. I was just intending to go up Beinn Mhor but the day was so lovely a extended it to include Laggan hill. I then discovered an abandoned croft Drumourachie on the way down.
