We set off from home on our bikes and cycled up Glean Einich. It was a lot further than we remembered but eventually we got to the start of the path up to Braeriach. We were running out of daylight a bit but decided to go up to the scramble on the west ridge of coire Dhondail. (Grade 1) it was a little loose a jumble of rocks really. Once at the top we did a small circuit and came down the path which lead up from up to the coire. We got back home at about 5.30 so we’re out about 8 hours…not bad!

It was a lovely day so we took the afternoon off and went up the hill on our road bikes. Last time we got caught it a very cold sleet storm and nearly got hypothermia. We went up on the rain and had a coffee and cake at the ptarmigan. Soon to be renamed!

After a Sunday with Sue and Chris etc in Hadding to we headed to Killin, stopppoming for a great cup of coffee and cake in Callander. We parked the van in the visitor centre car park and spent the night ready for a early start in the morning.
The day started off a bit claggy but we headed up the first peak Beinn Ghlas and carried on or Ben Lawers. We then decided to call it a day and head back as the flag had not cleared. However due to a error in navigation we continued along the ridge towards An Stuc! As w weren’t the weather cleared so we though a good choice had been made by default. Mind you the long walk back was very long by anyone standards. It was a good 10 hour day! A iffy forecast for the next day and our tired legs told us to head home, which we did via a mediocre chippy in Pitlochry. A good day all round……😟😃

A very long walk in but was it worth it …yes it was!

We parked at the car park at Inverkirkaig as we knew we would have a very long walk in the next day and wanted to get an early start. The forecast was good for the next day so we set off in lovely sunshine. It was a truly amazing mountain and day…..but a very long walk back. 10 hours! We we weary people as we got back to the van for soup….and sleep……back home the next day to vote!

Kirkaig Falls
The night before we parked by the side of the Loch next to Cul Beag, intending to go up a scramble and up to the top. But it was pretty claggy in the morning I think we would have probably set off and seen how it went but we ran out of gas. So had to go back to Ullapool and get some more …and have breakfast. To we decided to head to lochinver to have a look and maybe go up Suilven the nest day. So that is what we did. We walked up the Kirkaig to the Falls and parked for the night at the Car Park at Inverkirkaig. Nice spot and we were the only van there. We had a shower at the leisure centre at Lochinver. A good day. And a long day tomorrow!

An amazing day on Stac Pollaidh

After a fantastic day yesterday we drove back to the beach car park at Achnahaird Bay and had a night in the van. The next morning we drove round to the Stac Pollaidh car park and went up Stac Pollaidh. It was a beautiful sunny day. We went up to the notch and then scrambled along the ridge to the main summit. The one hard step was ok and the rope not needed. Fantastic day……

An amazing day out we drove right round the single track road and parked the van over looking the sea and the summer isles, lovely sunset again. The next day we set off on a brilliant circuit of seven tops. The ridge to the last top was a wonderfull surprise. Excellent day. We were pretty weary when we got back to the van but decided to drive back to Achnahaird Bay. Where we stayed in the little car park was another lovely sunset over Stac Pollaidh where we intended to go the next day..

The Lilly Loch and a bit of a detour

This was our first bike ride since Roger’s illness, and we actually did a fair distance. We went to the Lilly loch and then to loch an Eilein for a coffee. We then went round loch Morlich stopping for w bit of something at the cafe in the visitor spcentre at Glenmore. On the way back we went on a couple of detours of the logging way trying to find a interesting way home. The photo below of the heather at Rothiemurchus has been a bit of a winner for my jewellery.
