New boots on Dow
Murrys Route S – shared leads.
The second of our classic routes from Rogers book. We both bought new rock boots yesterday, much more comfy ones than the ones we use for the climbing wall. Mine were wonderful and Roger thinks his will be once he wears them in. Although he rubbed his toes before the weekend at Shepherds so only wore one and a big boot. Bit eccentric but it worked for him! Meant to take a photo but forgot.
We parked at walna scar and walked up to Dow Crag, it is still a bit chilly but the wind has dropped. There were a couple of other parties on A Buttress but our route was empty. We went up Murrys Route S. Great route and down easy gully.
We then drove round towards Wasdale and parked up on Ullpha Moor looking our towards Birker Fell and further away Bow Fell I think. Beautiful sunset to end the day
Double trouble and sleepy folk……
A lovely end to a weekend at mum and dads…..all the Robinson’s together….made some sleepy! 
Fish and Chips in Whitby…..
A great day with all the family in Whitby, it was the weekend between Mum and Dad’s birthday, we set out from Kendal and Mark et all came up from Malvern picking mum and dad up on the way. After a brilliant fish and chips we had a walk on the beach and a ride up the cliff lift.

An Afternoon at the Wall
With a not so good forecast we decided to spend the morning catching up with work and then go to Kendal climbing wall after lunch in Kendal.
Had a good go at a couple of 5 and 6a’s and I got 3/4 the way up the big wall on a pink 5-
Shepherds Crag
Today we started our journey of completing all the classic climbs in Rogers book ‘Classic Rock’.It was a lovely day one of the first nice days of the year. After calling in Keswick to get a new rope, well two new half ropes. They are lovely and very light, we also had a coffee and cake at the wild strawberry. We headed down Borrowdale to Shepherds Crag. After another pot of tea we headed to the crag. It was very quiet and there was no one on Little Chamonix so that was our first climb. Our next was Brown Slabs Arête which was excellent but not on the list of classic climbs so another visit will have to happen!

First day out climbing for nearly three years! Bit windy but warm in the sunshine. We travelled down yesterday and hope to have a good few days climbing before we go back! Schiehallion 1083m
After our second night in the van we had planned a longer walk but the weather forecast was a bit craggy and rain due later. So we decided to walk up Schiehallion. It was a much better walk than we thought it might be. Rocky at the top and we had a clear view at the top but it started clagging over as we left and raining as we were almost down. We were out 4 hours.
Two little walks
We drove down to Loch Rannoch on Monday afternoon, the next day we were going to meet up with Wendy, Kevin and Arron. We enjoyed a couple of nice little walks at the falls of Bruar and Solider’s Leap. We also had a swim and another night in the van on the shore of Loch Rannoch. Lots of nice places to wild park.

A trip to the Shelter Stone
Cairn Gorm 1,244m Fiacaill a’Choire Chais 1,141m
It was a great forecast so we thought we would have a day out on Cairngorm. We set of from the car park, although it was lovely and sunny there was a nip in the wind. We headed up to Coire an t Sneachda aiming for the goat track. There was still a fair bit of snow on it and it was pretty solid and icy but there were steps kicked in to it so it was fine. From the top we went down Coire Domhain and down the side of Alt Coire Domhain. We had a good look at Heel’s Lum Crag, there was a recent snow and rock avalanche from the cornice at the top. We didn’t get across to the Shelter Stone as the stream was a bit full and we didn’t want to paddle! There was a scramble up the slabs at the side of the Shelter Stone Crag but there was a lot of snow still on it. We walked along Loch Avon past some great camping places and beaches and up to the saddle up passed another avalanche to Cairngorm and down by point 1141 and down the fiacaill ridge. A great day.

We had a couple of different jewellery and print outlets to see so we headed off in the van. First we stopped at Tomintoul to see Bill at the Tomintoul gallery and had a coffee and bacon pancakes at the old fire station. Then over to Glenshee to show our samples to Aileen. She was interested and greed to take a few prices of jewellery and cards. Our work done for the first day we drove down to Spittal of Glen Muick to find a place to park up for the night. Which we did.
The next day we headed up Carn an Diamh and Conachraig, from the top we had a great view of Lochnagar. After heading back to the van we delivered a set of work to the Larks gallery and had a lovely late Lunch in the Old Station Restaurant. Which sadly burned down the following week.
