Rock and Snow, Scramble and a Summit
A fine day Joe still staying with us we decided to go up the scramble Headwall grade 1 at Coire an t-Sneachda. We had a bit of route finding difficulty not really being familiar with the crags yet but eventually got to the right place and up we went. Once on the plateau we headed to Ben Macdui, a fantastic day such great views.

Fiacaill Buttress–forgot the map!
Setting off from the car park we headed along the track to fiacaill ridge. It was a bit cold on the hands scrambling and a bit wet and windy. bit of snow and ice on the top. We had forgotten the map so made our way back following the edge round and dropped down by Miadan Creag an Leth-Choin and back to the car park a nice wee jaunt.

I am writing this up over a year later! catching up with some missed entries. How time flies. We set of from home on our bikes along the Speyway to boat and then on to Carrbridge up the B9007 and then took the track to Carn Glas-choire walked the last bit to the summit. Then back to Aviemore.

The Challenge of Barf

What a day …a short straight forward walk turned into a bit of an adventure in navigation!!! definitely went the hard way up Barf and nearly finished Chris off! then Later we had great trouble locating seat How in the Woods. But all added up to a good day out.

We set off in lovely sunshine but ended up in the clag for most of the day and then drove back to Windermere in the sunshine again. Lovely to be in the fells…..

We were back in Kendal for Kai and Blair’s wedding. Sue and Chris had a holiday flat in Windermere and we headed out to the fells to go up Gunner’s How. Lovely sunny day….

We set off from HOME and caught the train to forres – we changed a Inverness. then cycled all the way along the Dava way to Grantown it really was a lovely route following the old railway line. mind you we did bite off I bit more than we could chew as it was gone six by the time we got to Grantown – chips from the chippy and then cycles along the Spey Way back home…very weary but excellent day.
Just a short trip to Stavely
We had a dry run to Stavely and an early lunch at Wilfs but the start of the forecasted rain caused a fast return back to kendal!

Our first day out from Joe’s
We got new tyres for my bike yesterday and they are a little fatter and a lot (hopefully) stronger so hoping for no more punctures for me! Which is just as well as the ride we chose went off the tarmac pretty quick and up a track which cut out a bit of very busy road but I had to push! We started just past Thornthwaite and headed to Cockermouth for tea and scones, then round Loweswater and to Lorton for an Ice Cream and then up over Whinlatter for coffee and cake. It was all down hill then back to the car. lovely!
